Belly Raj hailing from Ooty, he completed schooling in the Nilgiris and pursued a degree in hotel management in Bangalore. He doesn’t know he could sing till he was 18. One day, he got a chance to sing before a small crowd in his village and received a lot of appreciation. To improve his skills, he underwent a teachers' training course for three years at The Music Academy.
He joined the popular cine orchestra Sadhaga Paravaigal and sang for nearly five years. Impressed with the demo songs he played for them music director James Vasanthan made him sing a track for a song. After a week, James Vasanthan said, ‘his voice has been selected.' The first song was ‘Kangal Irandaal' for Subramaniapuram. He eagerly awaited the release of his first project.
A week after the audio release, the song became a hit thanks to the various FM stations. He felt he had arrived after eight years of hard work. He must thank James for making his dream come true and his dad for supporting me right from the beginning. He watched the movie on the first day in Udhayam theatre; there was loud whistling when his song came on screen. He is getting offers, slowly but steadily.
He had sung more than 30 songs and take part in stage shows here and abroad. Bellie is with offers from Tamil and Telugu with about 15 songs in Tamil in the pipeline and one of them is for Karthik Raja.
