Kumaranallor V Rajamani - Profile Of Classical Musicians

Kumaranalloor V.Rajamani belong to a Music Family. He learned Mridangam from his father Sri.R. Venkiteswara Iyer at the age of eight. He had his further lessons from his brother Kumaranalloor V.Ramanathan who is a student of Asthana Vidwan Mridangam Mani Iyer and Ramanathapuram C.S.Murugabhoopathy. He had his first public Performance at the age of 12. He got further training in Mridangam under the Veteran Mridanga Vidwan Sri.Guruvayoor Dorai at Madras for 5 years. At that time he have accompanied with most of the well reputed Musicians in Kerala.

He has been approved as graded Artist by All India Radio, Trivandrum in the year 1965. Since then he has been giving programmes through A.I.R. He has participated in the Radio Sangeetha Sammelan held at Calcutta in the year 1993 to accompany on the Mridangam to the flute concert of Sri. G. S. Sreekrishnan.

He had the good fortune to go on a tour to The United States of America and Canada for 3 months with Sri.Nedunoori Krishnamoorthy. He has given a concert at the Madras Music Academy a few years back.

He has accompanied with most of the well reputed musicians such as Dr.Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Balamuralikrishna, and Pro.T.R. Subramaniam, Bombay Sisters, Madurai T.N.Seshagopal, Mandolin Srinivas, Kunnakkudi R.Vaidyanathan, Gottuvadyam player Ravikiran and so many musicians. He has participated in the Doordarshan programmes, and National programme of Doordarshan Delhi. He has been teaching students in Mridangam for the last so many years. Some of his students have got grading from All India Radio and they all are well placed in Mridangam. He had been working as Staff Artist in Mridangam in A.I.R.Calicut from 1983 to 2007.He is also an ‘A’ grade Artist.
