S.N.Surendar owning the credit of being known for having dubbed extensively for actor Mohan in over 85 films and about 650 films altogether, he is also a singer who hails from a family wherein music and allied arts run in the family right from his parents to his siblings who have all been singers and actors altogether. He also owns the pride for having dubbed for Nedumudi Venu in `Anniyan.'

Having been the favourite of music directors, Illayaraja and Deva he has had the privilege of sharing the microphone with singers none less than Vasudevan, Srinivas, Kamala Hassan, Karthik, Mano, Tippu and Harini. This apart it is worth mentioning that he is also the maternal uncle of actor Vijay.

Having a good voice alone is not enough. So far, he has sung more than 500 songs in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. He has a good voice and clear diction. So it doesn't matter how people refer to him. As a singer, he has some wonderful numbers to his credit, and as a dubbing artist, he dubbed for nearly 600 films, of which more than 75 films are for actor Mohan.

His father, S. S. Neelakandan, was instrumental in getting him his first break in Tamil and Telugu films. As he has been shuttling between theatres either to sing or dub, he never thought about any other department till now. But he done a few acting assignments in films such as Yagasalai, released a few years ago. ”An artist can never be satisfied and, therefore, always works harder”, he says. He has the dream to work with Kamal Haasan.

'Vaarayo Vanmathi' from Pagal Nilavu, 'Kanmani Nillu' & 'Maamarathu Poo' from Oomai Vizhigal, 'Parijatha Poove' from En Raasavin Mansile, 'Akkuthe' from Nilaave Vaa' are some hits which have been acclaimed in the recent past.
