D. Imman is an Indian film composer and singer of film music, predominantly working in the Tamil film industry. His first film as music director was Thamizhan in 2001. Since then he has composed music for a total of more than 25 films. D. Inman’s first major film score was for the 2001 film Thamizhan.
D. Imman has carved a niche for himself in a short span as a music director. From ad jingles to television serials and later to regular feature films has been a long and tough journey for this young music director.
The title songs for television serials established him as a music director with the right credentials. Catchy tunes, lilting music, and instant popularity these yardsticks were associated with D. Imman's music. He showed a penchant for melodies as well as peppy stuff. Soon enough, film offers came to him.
He has had the distinction of getting actresses Meena (Saena) and Priyanka Chopra (Thamizhan) to sing songs for him as also actors Vijay (Thamizhan) and Silambarasan (Whistle). He was also the first to get superstar Rajnikanth's daughter Aishwarya to sing for his film 'Whistle' (Natpe Natpe).
While his music received all-round appreciation in the films Thamizhan, Dilrupa and Saena, it was Whistle which really catapulted him to the top rung with some lively numbers like Whistle Adikkum, Kirukka Kirukka and Azhagiya Asura. It was the last number, Azhagiya Asura, which was on everyone's lips in no time.
A chart-buster, it was among the top numbers of the hit parades of every Tamil television channel. He is working in several more feature films now. All this at the age of just 20!
